Privacy Policy
Insight Weather is developed by Troy D Weather. This policy describes how the app handles information. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising SDKs, and we do not use your information for tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
Information the app uses
Insight Weather is designed to work without an account. There is no sign-in.
- Precise location (optional). If you allow Location When In Use, the app uses your current location to load local forecasts, alerts, air quality, and the home-screen widget. Location accuracy is requested at a coarse weather-appropriate level (about three kilometers). You can deny location and still search for cities.
- Places you choose. Searched locations, recent places, and favorites are stored on your device (including an App Group so the widget can read the same preferences).
- Settings. Theme, temperature unit, widget location, and similar preferences are stored locally with UserDefaults / App Group storage.
- Cached weather. Recent forecast snapshots may be cached on device so the app and widget can show last-known conditions.
Where weather requests go
To show weather, the app sends location coordinates (current GPS or a place you selected) to third-party weather services. Those providers process the request according to their own policies:
- Apple WeatherKit
- U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov)
- Open-Meteo (model outlooks)
- AirNow (air quality, when available)
We do not operate a backend that stores your location history. Coordinates are used to fetch weather for the request and are not uploaded to a developer-owned server.
Tracking, analytics, and ads
The app’s privacy manifest declares that tracking is off. We do not collect analytics for advertising, and we do not share data with data brokers. Apple’s StoreKit may be used to show a native rating prompt after you have successfully loaded weather over several days. That prompt is handled by Apple; we do not receive your Apple ID.
Data linked to you
Apple’s privacy nutrition label classifies precise location as collected and linked for app functionality, because the location is used to personalize the forecast on your device. That location is not used to identify you to us, and it is not used for tracking.
Children
Insight Weather does not target children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Turn off location for Insight Weather in iOS Settings at any time.
- Remove favorite or recent locations in the app.
- Delete the app to remove local caches and preferences from the device.
